How to send your podcast media kit to a sponsor

The media kit does the heavy lifting, so the email that carries it should be short. Its whole job is to get the kit opened, point the reader at the number that matters, and make the next step obvious.

Do not paste your life story above the attachment. Name the one page worth looking at first, offer a couple of package options so the reader is choosing rather than negotiating, and ask for a short call. A kit that arrives with a clear next step gets acted on. One that arrives alone gets saved for later, which usually means never.

The The Build media kit, and two ways to run it

Hi Dana,

Attaching the The Build media kit so you have everything in one place. It is short on purpose.

The page to read first is the audience breakdown. My listeners are early-stage founders, and about 68 percent of them are directors or above, which is the number most sponsors care about once they see who is on the other end.

Inside you will also find two package options, a single host-read episode and a three-episode run at a better per-episode rate, so you can pick the size that fits rather than negotiate from scratch.

If it looks like a fit for Ramp, the fastest next step is fifteen minutes on a call. I will walk you through the numbers and answer anything the kit leaves open. What does your week look like?

Thank you, Jordan

Common questions

What do I write in the email when I send my media kit?

Keep it to a few lines. Say the kit is attached, point to the one page worth reading first, mention that it includes package options, and ask for a short call. The email exists to get the kit opened and set up the next step, not to repeat what the kit already says.

What should a podcast media kit include?

Real download numbers, an audience breakdown of who actually listens, and a couple of package options with clear pricing. Add a line about your show's format and a past sponsor or testimonial if you have one. Keep it to a page or two, because a sponsor scans it, they do not study it.

Should I attach the media kit or link to it?

Attach a PDF for a cold or first send, so nothing stands between the sponsor and your numbers. A link adds a click and can look like a tracking trap. Once you are in a live conversation, a link is fine for sending updated versions.
